If you keep up with the latest trends with cannabis and hemp, you’ve probably heard about Delta 8 THC. Delta 8 is the hottest thing on the legal market right now. For legal purposes, I will refer to Delta 8 THC as Delta 8 Hemp Derivative, Delta 8, or D8 moving forward (Just remember it’s all the same thing for the purposes of this article).
Delta 8 is an isomer of both CBD and Delta 9 THC. Delta 8 and delta 9 are physically very similar molecules with the difference being the location of the double bond. The double bond is at the eight carbon in delta 8 and at the ninth carbon in delta 9. The effects of delta 8 and delta 9 are also very similar (We’ll talk more about that later in this blog). While many similarities exist between delta 8 and delta 9, there is one GINORMOUS difference…Legality.
Delta 9 THC in concentrations of greater than .3% is Federally illegal and classified as a Schedule I narcotic, like heroin and PCP. While everyone with a functioning brain knows this is ridiculous, that doesn’t change the draconian legal consequences associated with it. Delta 9 is Federally illegal even in states that have completely legalized cannabis.
Delta 8 Hemp Derivative is Federally legal per the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill. The Farm Bill defines hemp as “The term `hemp’ means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”
This means that anything that you get out of a legally grown hemp plant that has less than .3% delta-9 THC is legal to buy, sell, and possess. The delta 8 we use has zero % delta-9 THC, so it’s legal.
Don’t let Delta 8 being legal fool you, it is still very strong, very psychoactive, and very cool. Now that we’re done talking about boring legal stuff, let’s have some fun and talk about the effects of delta 8!
Delta-9 THC is the chemical that causes all of the common effects associated with cannabis highs. Everyone reading this knows them – dry mouth, red eyes, increased appetite, laughing, sense of well-being, paranoia, anxiety, pain relief, dopiness, and short-term memory loss. As I mentioned above, Delta 8’s effects are very similar to those of delta 9. However, the differences are what make Delta 8 better than delta 9. Delta 8 makes you feel relaxed, happy, pain-free, maybe a little hungry, but it doesn’t cause the panic attacks, anxiety, and stupidness of begin ‘weed high’. Delta 8 calms your mind, but isn’t sedating. It gives you a clear head with focused and motivated energy. I’ve been taking 10mg of Delta 8 every morning for a few months and my entire life is better. And I don’t mean ‘the fake, you think it’s better because you’re on drugs’ better. I mean empirically better. I wake up early, I get all my work done on time, my work is done well, I don’t feel overwhelmed or stressed during the day, I exercise better, I sleep better and I eat better. Doing everything better makes your life better.
I know everyone is different, but when I look at my ‘to-do list’ and it has 70 things, I tend to get overwhelmed and shut down. Then I get behind and the stress compounds. Then I think about everything I have to do and what I didn’t get done and I can’t sleep. It’s a vicious self-perpetuating cycle. Since I discovered Delta 8, I’ve solved these problems. Instead of getting stressed out when I see a big ‘to-do list’, I get excited to tackle it and see how much I can get done. I don’t procrastinate and bitch about what I need to do, I do it.
As I’ve been giving Delta 8 products to family and friends, they’re giving me the same feedback. Because delta 8 is so new, no studies have been done to explain why something so similar to delta 9 can still have such different effects. As I was doing R&D with delta 8, I kept telling people, “I know this sounds like blasphemy, but I think is may be better than delta 9.” Now that I have plenty of experience with it and also lots of testimonials, I will proudly and confidently say that Delta 8 is Better Than Nine.
In fact, I’m so sure of it that I named my new company Better Than Nine. Better Than Nine specializes in Delta 8 products. We’ve started with a simple but effective product offering – gummies, tinctures, and vapes. There are a few different flavors and strengths available, but these products cover everything you need. I can tell you about how awesome delta 8 is all day, but you gotta try this stuff to believe me. Go over to BetterThanNine.com to learn more about this and order some products. Use ‘launch25’ to get 25% off your first order.
I hope that everyone who reads this and uses delta 9 gives delta 8 a try. You may never use delta 9 again.
